DAnielle Walker

Danielle's passion for music began while growing up in Glynn County, Georgia playing the alto saxophone in middle school and the baritone saxophone in high school bands. At the age of 16 she was the youngest female to be asked to play with the Jekyll Island Big Band while still performing in the marching, symphonic, and jazz bands associated with high school.
Danielle continued her love of music by earning a B.F.A. in Music from Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina. It was in Brevard that she was able to learn a wide array of instrumentation, and collaborate with musicians of varying genres. In 1998 Danielle was featured with the Brevard College Summer Jazz Workshop Faculty Band on baritone saxophone.  The band was featured on National Public Radio hosted by Branford Marsalis playing the music of Miles Davis Nonet and they also opened for The Three Baritone Saxophone Band. Prior to graduating she completed a three month study abroad program in Altmünster, Austria in 1999 where she played in the local Music Kapelle, Marktmusikverein Altmünster. On her return she performed in the Brevard College Saxophone Quartet, premiering “Variations of John Henry” by Dr. Paul Elwood at the World Saxophone Congress in Montreal, Quebec.  Upon graduation Danielle lived in Asheville, North Carolina, and collaborated with jazz, rock, and funk bands in North and South Carolina.
She has been performing with The Savannah Theatre in Savannah, Georgia since September 2004.  Her main role is as a musician who plays soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophone, but she has also played clarinet, flute, and occasionally piano and auxiliary percussion. In various performances she has also been an actor, singer, and dancer, and has performed in over 250 shows per year with The Savannah Theatre.  The productions range from Broadway musicals to Tributes and holiday themes. Along with The Savannah Theatre, Danielle has played in The Savannah College of Art and Design performances with the theatre as well as The SCAD Bee Sharps.  She has also played and on toured with The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra.
When she is not performing she can be found spending time with her boyfriend, their two dogs, and cat.
